NautIQ Solutions is founded and led by Blessen Joe Mathews, a Master Mariner with more than two decades of hands-on experience across the maritime industry. His seagoing career began in 2001. In 2005, he joined a leading LPG shipowner and operator and, from 2006 onward, sailed and worked exclusively within its gas tanker fleet. He has worked as a Marine Superintendent for the world's leading owner and operator of Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGCs), specializing in the global transportation of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for five years. In May 2025, he began working independently as a freelance auditor, work he now carries out under NautIQ Solutions.
Blessen holds a Certificate of Competency for Master of Foreign Going Ship and a Diploma in Nautical Science, and is a DNV-certified ISM, ISPS, and MLC auditor for shipping companies. His career has taken him from the deck of LPG carriers through to the superintendent's office, managing fleets across Singapore, Oslo, and Australia.
As Marine Superintendent, Blessen managed six to eight vessels at a time on a day-to-day basis, overseeing dry-dock planning and execution, Ship-to-Ship operations, and closing out SIRE, CDI, PSC, and ISM audit observations with corrective and preventive actions. In the past six years, he has personally carried out more than 300 ship audits and inspections, spanning static and dynamic navigational audits, cargo and mooring audits aligned with OCIMF SIRE 2.0, and pre-purchase, pre-sale, and pre-hire inspections for owners, operators, and third-party clients.

Having managed vessels from the shore side and closed out findings from class societies, oil majors, and vetting inspectors, we know exactly what an audit needs to deliver to be useful, not just as a compliance record, but as a clear, practical picture of where a vessel and its systems really stand.
NautIQ Solutions provides audit and inspection attendance across Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Japan, and Korea, with vessels in these regions covered on short notice. Coverage across Southeast Asia is also available, subject to additional lead time to arrange the necessary visas.
